First registered in 1989 this is one of the last air-cooled G-Model Supersport Equipment cars to be made for the UK market. Production figures for this car in RHD are very low and together with this unique factory colour combination make this car very rare indeed.

The G-Model was manufactured between 1973 and 1989 and the last of the line, as we see here, was at the time the highest performing car in its respective class. Also benefiting from a change in the production of bodies with the use of body panels galvanised on both sides. This innovative technique has made the Porsche 911 not only famous for performance and luxury but also durability. In 1983 the Porsche Carrera was introduced, replacing the Porsche 911. The same year also saw the arrival of digital engine electronics, or DEE; this was coupled with the non-turbo engine and responsible for all elements of the combustion process.

Fitted to the incredible example offered here, the 911 3.2, had a redesigned engine inlet and exhaust system, along with the fitment of a service-free Digital Engine Management ignition system (DME), in conjunction with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel metering. This resulted in a significant increase in engine performance but a significant reduction in fuel consumption, through better engine efficiency and fuel cut-off when coasting. With a capacity of 3.2 litres, and a high compression ratio of 10.3:1, the air-cooled 6-cylinder, horizontally opposed engine produces an output of 230bhp, at 5,900 rpm. Maximum torque is 284 Nm at 4,800 rpm, and the maximum speed, limited by electronic fuel cut-out, is 152 mph. Acceleration to 60 mph was achieved in under 6 seconds.

This Super Sport Equipment or SSE model, was styled to resemble the Porsche 930 Turbo with wide wheel arches and the distinctive "tea tray” tail spoiler.

Also featured as part of the package was the stiffer Turbo suspension and the superior Turbo braking system as well as the wider Turbo wheels.

Beautiful and unmarked 16” Fuchs Alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (2016) and the desirable five-speed Getrag G50 Manual Transmission complete the package.

A more usable and drivable car than the Turbo, this car is in incredible condition and would be the perfect addition to any collector or enthusiast.

Most of the old MOT Certificates are with the car as are all handbooks, documentation and keys as you would expect to find with a car as rare, desirable and cherished as this example.

The Velvet Red (L81L) or Samtrot Metallic paint was a special order and is completely unmarked, no blemishes or swirls at all and the Linen Leather interior, so tastefully specified with contrast red piping, is in incredible condition commensurate with the rest of the car and the care and attention each keeper has given it. Everything works as it should with the car having been serviced and maintained as it should.

A review of the MOT History will reveal no fails and just the odd minor advisory for tyres or suspension.

The option sticker specification of the car when supplied new confirms it as a genuine UK RHD car with the 491 option and, rear seat belts and sunroof.

  • C16 - English car
  • 058 - Bumpers with impact absorbers
  • 335 - 3 point rear belts
  • 383 -Sports seat - left
  • 387 -Sports seat - right
  • 425 - Rear wiper
  • 490 -HI-FI sound system

  • 567 - Windshield green graduated tint
  • 650 - Sunroof

This is a rare opportunity to own an immaculate 911 Supersport Edition Coupe which as the last-of-the-line traditional Porsche with the Carrera 3.2 is the best way to deliver the famous air-cooled old-world Porsche driving experience, a time before power steering and other driving aids altered modern Porsche forever
