Fabulous low mileage example of the second generation Porsche Boxster with the reliable Type 987 2.7 engine and desirable 5-speed manual gearbox offered for sale.

Tastefully appointed in Midnight Blue Pearl coachwork and Stone Grey leather interior, the condition of both is commensurate with the very low mileage and the care this vehicle has enjoyed in what is amazing to think 15 years since its launch given how modern it still looks and with the performance to match.

All manuals in the original Porsche wallet are present and correct (including instructions for the excellent retrofit Alpine head unit) along with two keys and a comprehensive service and maintenance record.

There have been only 2 MOT advisories ever concerning minor brake issues with corresponding MOT paperwork to show.

First supplied by Porsche Aberdeen in April 2005 they also took care of the first service in March 2007 at 18140 miles including brake fluid change. The Boxster then spent a small amount of time in Belfast being serviced at the Porsche Centre there in August 2009 at 22927 miles with additional spark plug replacement carried out.

The most recent of only 4 keepers has used the car very sparingly and took delivery in August 2011 from PCT Cars, Porsche Specialists in Coventry who serviced the car at 26355 miles to include a drive belt change and brake fluid.

Mota Werk Ltd in Leicester were next to be entrusted with this car at 29415 miles and 31897 miles in 2012 and 2015 and then Boyslade Garage local garage to the owner, completed scheduled maintenance in 2018, 2019 and, most recently in June 2020 at 32727, 33127 and 33319 miles respectively.

The most recent of these services June 2020 and just 100 miles ago included major maintenance items such as Air and Pollen Filters and Spark Plugs. We have of course also carried out our usual inspection of all components and fluids and adjusted and replaced as required along with a full HPI check. Air-Con system has been recharged and the important drive belt replaced.

The correct ‘N’ rated Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Tyres are fitted front and rear with plenty of tread remaining.

The car is also fitted with the costly cruise control option.

The car runs and drives beautifully and is a very tight example.

The Type 987 was a major redesign of the original Type 986 Boxster. With 8 years experience of what customers wanted, the new model had crisper, more contemporary looks and a significantly more pleasant interior that mirrored the new Type 997 model 911. There was more power (of course) but the best feature that remained was and is the everyday driveability. Retaining the near ideal 47% front, 53% rear weight distribution, the mid-engined 2-seater offers spacious luggage areas both in the front and rear. The water cooled flat-6 engine delivers smooth, tractable power in a package that is complemented by class leading power assisted steering and brakes. For a more sporting drive, the manual gearbox as offered here wins over the Tiptronic.

The 987 Porsche Boxster had a very hard act to follow when it arrived in 2005. The original (codenamed 986) was a pretty radical machine when it was launched in 1996, providing a cheaper alternative to the legendary Porsche 911 while thrilling enthusiastic drivers with its mid-engined handling. Fortunately, the Mk2 (or 987) drove, and looked, even better.

The 987 Boxster was somehow more grown-up in feel and appeal than the original Boxster, and this meant it was no longer necessarily a 'budget' route into Porsche ownership. Indeed, its appeal was so distinct that it drew buyers away from the 911 itself, as well as arguably carrying more badge prestige than most of its direct rivals.

With a sober-looking yet classy interior, the Boxster looks like it means business from behind the wheel. You will be hard-pressed to find a car with better build quality and the Recaro seats are supremely comfortable. The Boxster's electric convertible roof is cleverly designed as well and works especially well with the optional wind deflector.

The second-generation Porsche Boxster built on the huge success of its predecessor, righting the very few wrongs that afflicted the original. With more power, more comfort and more speed, it was not only a better car, but also very hard to match at any price. Today, it hasn't lost any of its charm, and its desirability as a used car reflects this. It's not unlikely that 987 Boxsters will become even more sought-after in the coming years. The closest rival to a used Porsche Boxster, especially with this low mileage, is arguably a new one.

The second-generation Boxster is therefore a car you can buy with your heart and your head, especially in 2.7 engine and manual gearbox form – what better excuse do you need?
