Introduction :

The first generation A6 proved to be a great success story for Audi albeit it was in reality a facelifted version of the Audi 100, renamed 'A6' in 1994.

This first generation A6, which lasted until 1997, proved to be much sought after as a used buy also, with the Audi image on the up and up. The original sales invoice for the car offered here showed there was no discount offered beyond a rounding down of 60p!

Audi never pretended that the original first generation A6 was anything other than a revised and re-badged version of the last generation Audi 100, originally released in 1991. It received its A6 badges in June 1994, a month before the arrival of the brand-new A8 and nine months before the smaller A4 saloon.

Audi's own six-cylinder engine (the Volkswagen VR6 unit is completely different) seen here powered the 2.6 (and 2.8-litre) cars as seen here in 150bhp form combined with the smooth 4-Speed Automatic gearbox.

 

What You Get :

German reliability, build quality and solidity as well as a surprising amount of character with a generous level of standard equipment, especially on the SE model as offered here which is beautifully appointed in dark green metallic Ragusa paint and Platinum velour upholstery.

Unusually this car has both Electronic Climate Control and an Electric Pre-Select Sunroof.

All instruments and lighting are working with no loss of display pixels or blown bulbs. The cabin is a great place to be and invites a great sense of well-being.

The first owner of this immaculate A6 was fastidious in his care and owned the car for nearly 22 years from new in August 1996 until June 2018. It was serviced annually every August without fail (well before any actual due date for time or mileage) all carried out at the Leicester Audi franchise whose key-ring is still attached to the full set of keys. Business cards and AA Membership details are still within the service and user manual wallet completed with all original documentation and all service invoices and MOT certificates.
